Description
Etuners Parts ET525 is a high-performance hybrid turbocharger, fully developed by Etuners Parts engineers from scratch based on the IS38 platform for transversely mounted engines EA888 Gen3 1.8 / 2.0 TSI and TFSI. The design of the turbine focused on the combination of high power potential, fast response, and stable operation under high loads.
To achieve the required characteristics, the standard compressor wheel has been replaced with a machined billet wheel with a configuration of 6+6 blades and extended tip technology. This geometry increases the efficiency of the compressor and allows for increased airflow without compromising response. The compressor housing is precisely machined on CNC machines to achieve optimal clearance and a precise fit to the new wheel geometry.
On the turbine side, a lightweight turbine wheel with 9 blades is used, providing increased exhaust gas flow capacity. The turbine housing undergoes precise machining to accommodate the larger diameter wheel, reducing back pressure in the exhaust system and allowing safe operation at higher boost levels.
The design features a ball bearing cartridge (Ball Bearing CHRA), which reduces friction and rotor inertia. This ensures rapid boost pressure buildup, stable turbine operation at high RPMs, and high reliability under intensive use.
Each turbocharger undergoes a multi-stage balancing procedure. First, the individual rotating components are balanced, after which the assembled cartridge undergoes high-speed balancing on a VSR stand. This approach allows for stable and long-lasting turbine operation even under extreme operating conditions.
As a result, a hybrid turbocharger with fast response and high power potential has been achieved — up to 525 hp nominally, with the possibility of achieving higher figures depending on the engine configuration, installed equipment, and ECU tuning.
